Nara Nishinokyo Lotus Road: A Journey to Enjoy Lotuses and History
奈良・西ノ京ロータスロード ~蓮と歴史を楽しむ旅~
There are four temples in Nara City famous for their lotus flowers, located from the Saidaiji area to the "Nishi-no-Kyo" area in the western part of Nara City (formerly to the west of the main street of Heijo-kyo, Suzaku-oji). These temples are Saidaiji, Kiko-ji, Toshodaiji, and Yakushiji. Countless lotus pots are placed within the temple grounds, with various lotus flowers blooming in full glory from early summer to summer.
The road connecting these four temples is called the "Lotus Road," and every year, many worshippers visit the temples to see the flowers. The Nara City Tourism Association organizes the "Nara/Nishinokyo Lotus Road" project every year during the lotus season (around June to August), where visitors tour the four temples along the Lotus Road.
Furthermore, during the Lotus Road period, special events such as tours and hands-on experiences are held. Please enjoy these together with temple visits and lotus viewing.
