Taiwan Lantern Festival SENDAI 2025
台湾ランタン祭SENDAI2025
The "Taiwan Lantern Festival SENDAI 2025," a festival of lights connecting Taiwan and Sendai, will be held again this year!
During the Great East Japan Earthquake, Taiwan sent the highest amount of donations and relief supplies per capita in the world.
This event began as a way to express our gratitude for this kindness, as well as to showcase the recovery of Sendai's tsunami-affected coastal areas. It started in 2023 and this year marks the third edition.
With deep appreciation for Taiwan's tremendous support──.
A total of 544 lanterns sent from Taiwan will illuminate the skies of Sendai with lights of recovery and exchange.
Among these lanterns, in addition to 144 painted by Sendai citizens, there will also be lanterns actually used in the Lantern Festival held in Tainan from January to March 2025.
During the event, there will be a variety of programs including the sale of Taiwanese food and goods.
Please enjoy the vibrant cultural exchange between Taiwan and Japan!
