Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine Ichinomiya Ebisu Grand Festival "Ebesan"

住吉大社 市戎大国社例祭「えべっさん」
The Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine's Ichinomiya Ebisu Grand Festival "Ebesan" is known as Osaka's oldest Ebisu festival, strongly supported by people wishing for thriving business. The highlight of the festival is the dedication of prayer sticks imbued with wishes and their ceremonial burning. Held annually on the 9th and 10th, the shrine is bustling with people seeking bamboo branches called fukuzasa and lucky charms to bring good fortune. Participation in the festival is free, and Sumiyoshi Taisha, located in Sumiyoshi-ku, Osaka City, is easily accessible by car or public transportation. During the festival, in addition to prayer sticks, bamboo branches known as fukuzasa are adorned with colorful tokens of good luck, attracting a large number of visitors. Local shops and stalls line the grounds, offering food and souvenirs. Especially popular are the limited edition fortune testing areas and charms for business prosperity, where unique charms and goods unavailable elsewhere can be found. If visiting, it's recommended to first obtain a fukuzasa. Then enjoy the lucky tokens, indulge in local gourmet, and pray for a year of business prosperity as the best way to enjoy the festival.
