Shinjosai
新嘗祭
The Shinjosai is a traditional festival held at the Oomae Shrine in Moka City, Tochigi Prefecture, to celebrate the harvest and give thanks to the divine. It is also an important festival praying for the peace of the nation and the imperial family, as well as the safety of parishioners. Particularly noteworthy is the 'Oedaikagura' performed after the festival, which is a precious intangible folk cultural asset of Moka City.
The highlight of the festival is the afternoon performances of the 'Tenkobyouno Mai' and 'Ebisu Daikoku no Mai'. During these dances, there is a much-anticipated blessing distribution that many look forward to. It's a valuable opportunity to receive blessings while enjoying beautiful dances.
Oomae Shrine's convenient access, being just a few minutes' walk from Kita-Moka Station on the Moka Railway, makes it an ideal spot for many families. Don't miss this great chance to experience unique traditional culture and share happiness with your family.
