The 109th Ashikaga Fireworks Festival
第109回足利花火大会
The Ashikaga Fireworks Festival is the climax of the Ashikaga Summer Festival, with a long history dating back to 1903. It is held annually along the Watarase River in Ashikaga City, featuring approximately 20,000 fireworks that light up the night sky. This grand event attracts around 500,000 spectators every year and is cherished as a summer tradition.
Access to the venue is very convenient, being about a 5-minute walk from JR Ryomo Line Ashikaga Station and about a 10-minute walk from Tobu Isesaki Line Ashikaga-shi Station. Many stalls line the surrounding areas, where visitors can enjoy local specialties and gourmet food before and after the fireworks display.
Notably, there is a special program limited to this year. In this program, impressive fireworks selected from past festivals will be recreated, combined with unprecedented performances using new fireworks technology.
Visitors are advised to arrive early to secure the best seats and enjoy the food stalls while waiting for the fireworks to begin. Don't miss this traditional fireworks festival, which offers a perfect opportunity to create wonderful summer memories.
