Akiba Fire Festival

秋葉の火祭り
The Akiba Fire Festival is held on July 24 in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture, celebrating the fire prevention deity Akiba Sanshakubo Daigongen. The festival begins with the sound of conch shells, and the sight of crimson flames filling the night sky invites visitors into a fantastical world. The event takes place in Yanai, Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture, accessible via JR trains or by car. The charm of the festival lies in its mysterious atmosphere. As the flames color the night sky red, the breath of ancient traditions can be felt, making the visit itself a special experience. Highlights include events commemorating the virtues of Sanshakubo and the mikoshi (portable shrine) procession. The festival is held on a limited schedule, offering a special atmosphere only available on this day. It is a great opportunity to witness rare sights and traditions up close. If you plan to visit, it is recommended to come during nighttime to directly experience the flame show. Immerse yourself in the center of the festival and enjoy a fantastical time.
