Kinpira Festival: Dedication Sumo Crying Contest & Children's Parade

金ぴら祭・奉納泣き相撲大会、稚児行列

This event is accompanied by the vibrant sounds of babies, praying for health and good fortune. Local sumo wrestlers hold the babies for competition. It has now become a summer tradition of the Hara region. The venue is filled with the happy cries of babies. This year, there will also be a children's parade. A handmade bazaar, food stalls, modern street vendors, games, and activities like Hakuin taiko drumming are planned. Applications start on March 1 and close once the quota (200 people) is reached.
(The sumo tournament has two sessions at 11:00 and 14:00)
Admission is free, participation fee is 6,000 yen (pre-registration required via WEB or FAX). Small sumo contestants must be between 6 months and 1.5 years old (200 participants). The children's parade is for ages 3 to 10 (50 participants).
