Hometown Ongagawa Carp Streamer Festival
ふるさと遠賀川鯉のぼり祭
A tradition of Nakama City, the "Hometown Ongagawa Carp Streamer Festival" hosted by the Nakama Three Generations Interaction Association, will be held again this year!
"Koinobori," or carp streamers, are colorful flags shaped like carp that are flown in the sky on May 5th, "Children's Day," to wish for the healthy growth and happiness of children. It is a seasonal tradition unique to Japan that symbolizes May.
You can lie down on the vast grassy area of the Ongagawa riverbank in front of the Nakama City Hall and see about 150 carp streamers swimming in the air. This opportunity is available only for about a month. Please take this chance to visit.
