Okoshiya Festival

Nishinomiya Shrine in Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture, is the main shrine that worships the god of fortune, Ebisu. Every June, the "Okoshiya Matsuri" is held here. It is considered the earliest summer festival in Kansai. Based on the legend of the descent of Ebisu, this festival involves moving the sacred object to the "Okoshiya." About 120 parishioners carrying the portable shrine march for 1 km from Nishinomiya Shrine to the former site of the Mikoshiya. Everyone is welcome to join.
