Held every autumn equinox, the 'Takaoka Daibutsu Festival'. Several dozen people involved, dressed in white, ascend the pedestal for the annual 'Omimunui' ritual to clean the Great Buddha, which is a magnificent sight and a major event for the Takaoka Daibutsu. After the 'Omimunui', the general public can also pay respects to the Great Buddha up close. From 2:00 PM, a traffic safety prayer for citizens is held, praying for a year without accidents.
