Earless Hoichi Festival

耳なし芳一まつり
This is a festival held to honor "Hoichi the Earless," the famous Heike legend introduced in Lafcadio Hearn's (Koizumi Yakumo) "Kwaidan." In front of the "Hoichi Hall" on the grounds of Akama Shrine and the Heike clan's grave, "Nanamoriduka," a memorial service (Shinto ritual) and biwa performances are held (scheduled). The main festival takes place inside the main hall of Akama Shrine, but the biwa performance is held in the Ryugu Hall and requires an admission fee (scheduled).
