There are processions on land and at sea, and especially the sea procession (togyo) takes place after sunset, with many lanterns decorating the boats as they set out onto the water, making a circuit of the Kanmon Strait. It is also known as the "Lantern Festival." Countless lanterns on the main and accompanying boats illuminate the strait.
