Abare Festival

あばれ祭
The Uchikushi Abare Festival is a dynamic festival that has been designated as an Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Ishikawa Prefecture. This festival kicks off the summer festival season throughout various parts of Noto. Over forty tall lantern floats (Kiriko), each about 7 meters high, dance wildly through showers of sparks from giant torches, while two portable shrines (mikoshi) are violently tossed into the sea, rivers, and even into the flames, making for a brave and lively celebration.
