July 9th and 10th have long been known as the "Mandō Festival." During these days, thousands of lanterns, donated by worshippers, are placed in front of the main hall, enveloping Hattasan in a magical summer atmosphere.
July 10th is believed to be the most auspicious day of the year. It is said that visiting the temple on this day brings the same benefits as visiting for 46,000 days, and from early morning until late at night, large crowds of worshippers gather to pray.
