This festival, held every year on July 31st at Matsuo Shrine in Hiramatsu, is a rather unusual event where children parade through the village with male and female symbols they have made, offering them to the Sanpo no Arakami at Matsuo Shrine and praying for protection from fires. The object called "bon" is a ring made of miscanthus reeds, and it is a purification ritual for passing through summer, performed by the children while chanting.
