At ASTY Tokushima in Tokushima City, the "Awa Odori Practice and Practice Viewing" event will be held ahead of the main summer Awa Odori festival. The event takes place in a spacious indoor hall that is unaffected by the rainy season. Teams from the Awa Odori Promotion Association and the Tokushima Prefecture Awa Odori Association will participate in the practice, allowing visitors to observe up close how they hone their traditional dance skills and teamwork. Admission is free, and spectators are free to enjoy the dancers' serious expressions, sweat, and synchronized movements. You can also witness rare behind-the-scenes rehearsals and interactions among members, which is a unique feature of this event. It is easily accessible from Tokushima Station, either by bus or on foot. We recommend paying attention to the dancers' costumes, expressions, and movements, while personally experiencing the charm of the "sound" and "timing" of Awa Odori.
