The new face of the museum
博物館のニューフェイス
"The New Faces of the Museum" exhibition is a special event that presents to the public for the first time a collection of valuable items recently donated by local residents. Visitors can experience how the region's history and culture have evolved through the actual objects gathered for the exhibition. At the venue—the Omi Merchants Museum and Nakaji Yujin Memorial Hall—displays from a variety of fields are featured. Items such as old maps, ancient documents, hanging scrolls, signboards, and, in some cases, archaeological materials are introduced, each providing a deeper insight into the region. You can also witness the progression of ongoing research on these items. Especially in this exhibition, all the "new faces”—items previously unseen by the public—will be on display. Since some items are only available for a limited time, there’s an added excitement for visitors. A recommended way to enjoy the exhibition is to carefully observe the displayed materials and actively ask curators or local staff about their backgrounds. The stories behind the items will become even clearer and more memorable to you.
