Taki Nagashi Ceremony

滝流しの式
After the year-end customary 'Insult Festival', the traditional Japanese New Year's ceremony 'Taki Nagashi' is held at Daiwayama Tamon-in Saisho-ji. The ceremony begins with a Goma fire ritual by monks and unfolds with a series of unique rites. Participants receive sacred sake and perform wishes and prayers for health. The climax of the ceremony is when the sacred sake, poured over one's face, is caught in a large cup, and the participants drink it in one go. The highlight of this event is the sacred sake served in gigantic cups to pray for fortune and good health. Participants taste the sacred sake, wishing for infinite luck to flow like a waterfall. This unique New Year celebration can only be experienced at Daiwayama Tamon-in Saisho-ji and is the ultimate Japanese cultural experience. Seek a distinctive New Year celebration that cannot be found elsewhere, with convenient access by car from JR Ryomo Line or Tobu Isesaki Line in a short time. Highly recommend participating in this event full of unique culture and history to start the new year in a special way.
