Akuchi Festival

悪口まつり
The Akuchi Festival is one of Japan's unique festivals, originating in the Edo period, offering an opportunity for exorcising misfortunes and releasing stress in preparation for the New Year. Visitors can shout to each other and say words they usually can't, purifying their hearts and welcoming the New Year with a refreshed spirit. The festival is held at the Saihoji Temple in Daiwasan Tamon-in, Tochigi Prefecture, featuring an area for shouting and a special stage where visitors can speak freely. Additionally, stalls and local gourmet foods are part of the attraction. During this festival, special limited events are held, and participants receive specially made talismans. These gifts are precious items that can only be obtained in this region. When visiting, it is recommended to become part of the participants and shout from the heart. Join other participants in enjoying the volume and humor, refreshing both mind and body. Also, enjoy delicious local delicacies at the stalls, making it a great opportunity to start the New Year anew.
