Nagusa Firefly Festival
名草ホタルまつり
The Nagusa Firefly Festival is a magical event held in the scenic Nagusa area of Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture. Known as the land of Genji fireflies, this region is also selected as one of the '100 hometowns of living creatures.' The event takes place along the Nagusa River, where the sight of countless fireflies dancing at night fascinates visitors. You can reach the location by car from Ashikaga Station on the JR Ryomo Line or Ashikaga City Station on the Tobu Isesaki Line, where you can enjoy firefly viewing and lose track of time in nature. During the event, there are not only Genji fireflies but also exhibits and activities that utilize the unique landscapes and natural environment of the area. In addition to watching fireflies, there are opportunities for nature walks and experiencing local culture. As limited events, there are also sales of local specialties and handmade goods, offering visitors a unique experience. The most recommended activity during the event is to take a slow stroll along the Nagusa River and enjoy the glow of the fireflies.
