This summer festival was established to comfort the spirit of the enshrined deity, Lord Sakanoue no Tamuramaro, and to honor his achievements. The shrine grounds are adorned with about 9,000 lanterns offered by parishioners and devotees, enveloping the area in a magical atmosphere.
