大宮ごもり
Every year on September 11, a sacred fire is kept burning through the night at the summit of Mount Aburahi (神体山油日岳). Two days later on the evening of the 13th, hundreds of people gather, setting up curtains along the east and west corridors and raising ten thousand lanterns in front of the shrine, offering prayers to the ancestral deity of oil until late at night.
At seating areas arranged in each village, participants drink sacred sake (御神酒), and within the shrine grounds, young parishioners host festive religious events, creating a lively festival atmosphere.
It is said that in the past mosquito nets were hung in the corridors and people stayed inside all night.
