The Niigata Prefectural Art Exhibition Joetsu Exhibition is the largest open-call art exhibition in the prefecture, boasting a long tradition and history. This beloved event attracts not only local residents but also many exhibitors from across Japan. At the venue, approximately 400 works—including award-winning and selected pieces—will be displayed across seven categories: Japanese painting, Western painting, prints, sculpture, crafts, calligraphy, and photography, with contributions from both inside and outside the prefecture. It is a rare opportunity to view such a wide variety and number of artworks all at once. Each genre’s exhibition allows visitors to witness fresh expressions from regional artists and experience the diverse appeal of different art forms within the same space.
