Welcome! Summer Art Museum Vol.2 Ghost?

おいでよ!夏の美術館vol.2「オバケ?」展

The "ghosts" you don't want to meet but still want to see.
See, feel, learn about these mysterious ghosts, and even become a ghost yourself.
A fun and innovative exhibition that opens the door to our imaginations!

Throughout history and across the world, ghosts have existed under many names. They appear in picture books and stories in various forms, sometimes showing up unexpectedly. There are scary ghosts and cute ghosts. Even though you might not want to meet them, part of you is curious. Ghosts tickle our curiosity — they're mysterious beings. Just hearing the word "ghosts" is a magic word that excites us, and this exhibition is a chance to enjoy ghosts to the fullest through exceptional creativity.

There will be a spooky room where the classic picture book "Don't Want to Go to Bed?" is read by rakugo performer Ichinosuke Shunputei, lively ghost music "Yarn Ball" by the father-son duo Shuntaro Tanikawa & Kensaku Tanikawa, and a new animation from famed director Kunio Kato, among around 20 diverse creators. The "Ghost Research Lab" will also be established, delving into the history of ghosts in Japanese art and featuring 500 ghost picture books, exploring and creating ghost-related works. This is an interactive exhibition that parents and children can enjoy together.
