Ebisu Festival

えびす祭り
A festival in Kito Kito, the fishing town of Ikuji, where fishermen pray for a good catch and safety at sea. The lantern floating and parade of yakatabune (decorated boats) fantastically illuminate the night sea. Statues of Ebisu and Daikoku, which are enshrined at the local shrine, are placed on lavishly decorated fishing boats, which set sail from Kurobe Fishing Port around 7 pm. They cruise offshore of Ikuji for about an hour. After that, children from Ikuji Elementary School start the lantern floating. On Saturday night, a fireworks display is also held over the sea, with around 1,000 spectacular fireworks launched into the sky.
