Saitan-sai and New Year Prayer Festival

歳旦祭・新年祈願祭
At the National Treasure-designated Naemura Shrine, the Saitan-sai (New Year’s Day Festival) and the New Year Prayer Festival are held to celebrate the coming of spring. Unique to Naemura Shrine, which enshrines the guardian deity of infants, are special ema (votive plaques) for conception prayers, as well as distinctive talismans such as demon-breaking bows and arrows, omamori (amulets), and ofuda (talismans). ◎ 0:00 AM Saitan-sai and Gate Opening Ceremony ◎ 5:00 AM Dedication of the First Kagura Dance ◎ 9:00 AM Public display of the Exorcism Naemura Fudō Myōō (Important Cultural Property) (until around 5:00 PM) ※ The public display is held only from January 1 to 3 ◎ 2:00 PM New Year Prayer Festival
