This is a divine ceremony to pray for the successful conduct of the Hofu Tenmangu 'Goshinkou Festival' held in November. A child chosen from elementary schools in the city becomes the Flower Deity and, accompanied by over 500 people including officials and 10 ladies-in-waiting, proceeds from in front of Hofu Station to Hofu Tenmangu. The procession, with its floral palanquins, recreates a splendid and elegant picture scroll from the dynastic era, following an ancient-style pilgrimage route.
