New Year's Day Festival
歳旦祭
The Saitan Festival is a traditional event held at Homan Shrine to celebrate the New Year. From early in the morning, visitors are warmly welcomed with sweet sake and sacred sake served within the shrine grounds. The formal Saitan Festival begins in the morning, where together with the local people, wishes are made for happiness and health in the new year.
At the heart of the venue, visitors can experience worship and prayer rituals, and the unique, tranquil atmosphere of the shrine offers opportunities to interact with the local community. Especially in the morning hours, the air at the shrine is clear and pure, allowing you to start the year with a refreshed mind and body.
As a special limited experience, the sweet sake and sacred sake that are served are available only on this day. You can savor the traditions of the Japanese New Year while feeling the local atmosphere.
A recommended way to spend your time is to visit during the relatively quiet morning hours, enjoy the warm drinks offered, then take a leisurely stroll around the shrine grounds to refresh your mind. It is a valuable opportunity to experience the beginning of the New Year together with the local community.
